Let’s be honest: Promoting your services on social media seems fairly easy on the surface. All you have to do is write, schedule, and post a bunch of promotional content, right? How hard can that be?

Truth is, promoting anything on social media can be tricky to navigate. On one hand, you don’t want your posts to get lost in the crowd – especially with today’s algorithms, which we can all agree are not cool. On the other hand, you don’t want to come off as spammy or pushy, because no one really wants that. 

So, how do you find the right balance? And how do you promote your services on social media in a way that’s smart, strategic, and impactful? We’re sharing simple, easy-to-apply tips that will help you do just that. 

Share your offer

The first rule in promoting your services? Actually promoting them! Yes, it can feel a little spammy and icky to constantly be talking about how great you are. Our advice? Talk about how you can help people first.

You’ve worked really hard to create a brand-new service that will help others, and you want to make sure people actually know it’s available, right? With that in mind, think about how you can show up on your platforms — whether it’s your website, a podcast, your social media, etc. — to talk about how your services or new offer can help your audience. 

Here are some other ideas to help get the word out:

  • Build excitement before the launch
  • Create an exclusive waitlist for your service
  • Promote an extra incentive for audiences (a discount, promo code, etc.)
  • Host a flash sale
  • Remind people of your service regularly

Make it simple

It should be as simple (and easy) as possible for your audiences to take advantage of your services, or to take the next step that might lead to a conversion, like booking a call or filling out an application. 

Through social media, specifically, there are tons of ways you can make it easy for someone to get started with your services. You can try:

  • Adding link stickers to Stories
  • Creating a link in your bio (e.g. Linktree)
  • Driving audiences to a landing page or sales funnel page (think intake form, contact sheet, services description, etc.)
  • Share exact steps audiences can take to hire you

If you’re also running ads on social media, keep the same strategy in mind: Make it simple.

Share testimonials

We’ve said this time and time again, and we’ll say it here, too: When it comes to services – or any product for that matter – people don’t just want to take your word for it; they want to hear from others! And that can come in the form of sharing testimonials and reviews.

In fact, nearly 90% of consumers say they trust online reviews, which also influence their online purchasing decisions. That alone should be enough to convince you to share testimonials and reviews on your social platforms.

But don’t limit yourself to vague, all-encompassing testimonials that are like, “This service is great!” Instead, try to share more detailed reviews that can help convince someone else to take the next step. Answer questions like:

  • What problems or challenges did your service help someone overcome?
  • How did your service directly help someone, and in what ways?
  • What positive changes have happened as a result of your services?

Keep those questions in mind the next time you ask for testimonials from customers – and before you share them on social media. 

Pro tip: Get a testimonial on video. This makes it easy to share your services in so many different ways on social media, including Instagram Stories and Reels, TikToks, and more.

Answer FAQs

Like with any product or service, you’re probably going to get a lot of the same questions. How much does it cost? How does the process work? What’s in it for me? Use this opportunity to further promote your services on social media by answering those questions!

This is a great strategy for several reasons. First, you’re eliminating any extra steps your audience may take in order to purchase your services. The back and forth of answering questions only creates more time for them to jump ship. By answering those questions up front, you can help them take the next step as soon as possible while minimizing any hesitations they may have.

Answering FAQs on social media also saves you tons of time and energy! Instead of spending it all answering individual questions, you can set expectations for everyone at the same time. How great is that? 

Here are some starter ideas for answering FAQs about your service on social media:

  • Create an FAQ page for your website, then repurpose that content for social
  • Use carousels on Instagram to answer questions
  • Create an FAQ video and/or Instagram Reel
  • Go live to answer questions in real-time

Going Live on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or even Facebook is another great tactic to promote your services on social media. It gives you the chance to connect with your audiences while talking about your offer in more detail.
